Ulla Welin

Ulla Welin

Ulla Welin spent part of her childhood on the roof of the tallest apartment building in Turku. The lively red-haired girl would show her grandmother in Ostrobothnia how to make up plays, which were applauded enthusiastically. “Maybe it was just because there was no TV, and grandma and aunts were bored, but that’s what started it: my desire to write and make up stories.” Ulla’s stories have entertained her own children on long sea voyages, and participants in Pihlajamäki clubs have laughed at Ulla’s antics for decades. Ulla began her career as a writer when her grandchildren were a little older. So far, she has written 21 books. She created the Trilogy series, based on true events, for all adventure-loving children.
