Cows, Love & Laughs blog
You can find the original Cows, Love & Laughs blog here . The blog where we have been writing for some time and where the blog journey began. Now the blog is taking a new step and our regular blog will be called Onnenläntti blog. Despite the change, our content will of course remain true to our former name; Cows, Love and Laughs.
The first post is the first post on the Cows, Love & Laughs blog:
The name of the blog contains the essence of everything. We will of course write about cows (COWS), we will share our thoughts, we will tell about a small family business (LOVE) and above all we want to do all this with a good mood, a smile! (LAUGHS)
The topics are mostly related to cows, but broadly. We will also write about themes related to cows, such as nature, weather, food and emotions. Sometimes we may be on the side of facts, sometimes everything else. We will include, among other things, cow stories, non-fiction, research and writings about life through the eyes of a cow. We will also tell you about us and the backgrounds of our store Onnenläntti products.
If you feel like you might like to follow us, subscribe to our newsletter, where you will receive a reminder about our blog and other activities from time to time. You can also follow our Instagram account (@lehmanpuhe) or Facebook (If Cows Talked & Onnenläntti), where we will keep you up to date with our current events.
Here on the other side of the screen, mother Katja writes
and her daughter Tanja. In a nutshell, Katja is the brains of our content and Tanja is the eyes.
Katja is German by birth, but has now lived in Finland for half her life. She has had a long career in agriculture, working as a lowland journalist, intercalator, organic advisor and researcher. Katja is an agrologist, art therapist and nutrition and health advisor by training.
"Promoting the well-being of people and animals has been a challenge that has been on my mind since my school days. In the 1930s, my grandfather left the farm and studied to be a doctor. I gave up my place in medical school after I had taken care of the garden of the Äijälä Disability Support Association as a summer job in 1986. Working with special people with my hands deep in the soil changed my understanding of what we need to be well in general. Over the years, I have accumulated a lot of experiences, and this blog is a wonderful platform to share them."
After studying art therapy, in August 2017, I had the idea for an exhibition about cows. This developed into the If Cows Could Talk exhibition project, which we implemented with MTK Varsinais-Suomi under the Leader project. "The images and stories completely enchanted me. That's why after the project ended, I just wanted to continue, even though the pandemic hit quite soon after my decision and actually made it difficult for my company, which is based on organizing events and exhibitions, to operate." This is how Onnenläntti was born and grew.
Tanja is a helping hand in all the company's operations. "I don't have the same level of contact with cows. However, I have noticed how cows are foreign to children these days. I find it significant (as someone who grew up in the country) that awareness of cows, of the hard work that goes into farming, would remain in the future. The fact that you have seen a cow in the pasture, read a book about cows, discussed them or visited a barn gives an important perspective. I think it is important that we know what a cow is and what kind of work is done around them. That work is certainly not done for money, but for the "love of the sport". I myself play football with a goal in mind, which as a female athlete you don't do for large sums of money, but specifically for the "love of the sport". So in this respect I can identify and at the same time I know that the work of agricultural producers is many times more meaningful than running after the ball yourself. That is why I find it nice to be involved in the world of cows!"
